Desktop Support Technician
firstPRO is seeking a qualified Desktop Support Technician for our client, a large health organization located out of Philadelphia, PA. They are seeking an individual with experience in repairing MAC OS/Windows OS and other desktop support to users in research labs and academic administration. The ideal candidate will be able to perform basic installations, repairs, upgrades, and maintenance on hardware, software, computer peripherals and computer-aided scientific research equipment.

- Compensation: $27-$30/hour with benefits (Health, Dental, Vision)
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
- Onsite
- Type: Contract to Hire
Responsibilities
- Provides on-site desktop and other technical support to users in research labs and academic administration, including support solutions customized for the needs of research or administrative working groups
- Performs basic installations, repairs, upgrades, and maintenance on hardware, software, computer peripherals and computer-aided scientific research equipment.
- Troubleshoots technical problems, answers customer questions, and resolves issues.
- Occasionally refers issues/questions to appropriate personnel/manager for follow-up but resolves most issues independently and without referral.
- Instructs users in the operation and appropriate usage of systems/equipment
- Provides procurement recommendations and technical specifications for departmental purchasing
- Performs ongoing analysis of local computing environment and makes recommendations for technology or process improvements
- Assists in the analysis of technical products, systems and/or software.
- May take lead role in technology evaluation projects or technology implementation projects.
- Performs testing for product evaluation and deployment projects and works with the user base to assure that the solutions meet requirements.
- Performs or updates inventory as appropriate.
- Updates tickets and assignments according to established procedures. Performs other duties as assigned
Machines/Tools & Equipment
- Personal computers (desktop and laptop), printers, storage devices, common and specialized peripherals, AV equipment, computers attached to scientific devices
- Macintosh, Windows operating systems (multiple versions)
- MS-Office suite of applications, desktop productivity software, web browsers, diagnostics software, anti-virus software, other specialized software as required by local research or academic environment
- Physical toolkit, including screwdrivers, pliers, and other tools requiring manual dexterity
- Windows Server access tools, IP troubleshooting tools, printer administration software
- University-provided system monitoring and network systems
- Other supported devices, including tablets, smart phones, hand truck, transportation carts
